Expert is for patient, methodical solvers
Expert Sudoku is best approached after Hard puzzles feel explainable. It rewards candidate discipline and careful elimination rather than speed. Take a pause, scan a unit from a different angle, and let the next valid restriction emerge.
Work from evidence
Every candidate should be supported by its row, column, and box. Treat Notes as a live map: update them after confirmed placements so patterns remain visible.
Advanced elimination, not promises
Some Expert boards require longer chains of elimination than Hard, but no particular named pattern is guaranteed. Use the techniques the grid actually presents instead of forcing one.
Why guessing is a poor habit
A guess may finish a board, but it does not show why the puzzle works. Logical moves make errors easier to find and help the next hard puzzle feel less opaque.
Hard versus Expert
Hard often gives you a route after careful Notes. Expert can make that route longer and less obvious, so thorough scanning and clean candidates matter even more.
